Abstract
1,065,259. Tapping molten metals. VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE A.G. Sept. 7, 1965 [Sept. 8, 1964], No. 38227/65. Heading F4B. A process for the fabrication of a tap-hole in an open hearth furnace comprises lining the floor 5 of the tap-hole 4 with refractory material 6 and then inserting one or more inverted U- shaped bricks 7, 7<SP>1</SP> (see Figs. 2, 3, not shown), into the tap-hole 4 and tamping said bricks with refractory material 6a. The bricks may have tongued-and-grooved ends to ensure location with adjacent bricks.
