Abstract
1,268,328. Continuous heat treatment furnaces. KOPPERS - WISTRA - OFENBAU G.m.b.H. 16 Dec., 1970 [13 March, 1970], No. 59772/70. Heading F4B. In a furnace for heating plates, slabs, ingots and billets in which the charge to be heated is transported continuously or intermittently through the furnace, e.g. a pusher or walking beam furnace, the charge is supported by watercooled beams having skids which at the exit end of the furnace are formed of ceramics or metal containing over 50% Cr, and which elsewhere in the furnace are formed of materials resistant to sudden temperature changes. Oxide ceramics and sintered ceramics of high abrasion resistance are suitable for the skids at the furnace exit end.
