Abstract

729,072. Continuous furnaces. THERMOINDUSTRIEOFENBAU GES. Nov. 26, 1952 [Nov. 27, 1951], No.29977/52. Class 51 (2). In a continuous furnace divided by the-charge material 1, e.g. metal, glass or ceramic material, into upper and lower heating zones having reflecting arches 4 and 5, the said arches comprise replaceable elements arranged end to end, and the heating elements 2 and 3, e.g. radiant tubes, electric resistances or open flames, extend in a longitudinal direction. The number of reflecting arches placed side by side is varied according to the width of the charge material, Fig. 3 (not shown). The furnace may also be divided longitudinally, Fig. 2 (not shown), into separate chambers connected by a cooling section having a low roof. The joints between sections may be made gas-tight by packing rings held in place by metal bands, and the reflecting surfaces may be non-circular, the upper section being arranged to tilt, Figs. 4-7 (not shown).
