Classes 20(2) and 87(1) [Also in Group XXXVI] A pre-cast or cast-in-situ flooring element 1 has two pairs of parallel cable ducts 2, made by inserting circular, pitch fibre or other tubes, or by removable cores, during casting, and having a rebate 4 at one end, formed to a depth equal to that of the ducts' axes, so exposing the ends of the ducts 2 as semi-circular, access channels 5. As shown in Fig. 2, junction boxes 7, which have grooves to match three of ducts 2 and are placed over each pair of rebated duct channels 5, are connected by transverse semi-circular ducts 8, so that cross-connections may be made between ducts 2 via boxes 7 and ducts 8. The floor element is lightened by a channel 3 formed by a core in moulding, and in a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the flooring element has three interior channels formed by cores, circular outlets on the rebate 4 allowing access to these channels.
