Abstract

888,016. Ink-ribbon &c. mechanisms. SMITH & SON (ALACRA) Ltd., W. H. March 20, 1959 [March 20, 1958], No. 9019/58. Class 100(4) In a tabulating, typewriting or like recording machine wherein two or more paper webs interleaved with at least one duplicating web are fed step-by-step past a writing station means are provided to shield the duplicating web at the writing station over part of its width so that no duplicate record is made over those portions. Paper webs 13, 14 are fed round a driven platen 10 and are engaged by pin wheels 11 and have an interposed carbon paper web 16 which may be released at a slower rate. Sheets 20, 21 of polytetrafluoroethylene are anchored to cross members 24; 25 held by pegs 26 on the frame and are placed on either side of the carbon web 16. The sheet 20 between the carbon web 16 and the duplicate paper web 13 is extended in steps over part of its width into the writing station so that no impression is made on the web 13 in these portions.
