Abstract
886,607. Container closures. MORTON SALT CO. May 31, 1960 [Sept. 8, 1959], No. 19252/60. Class 125(3). A dispensing closure for a container comprises a body member 10 and a lid 14 hinged at 18, the member 10 having a wall 16 with holes for dispensing material in the container. The closure is preferably of polyethylene and the lid 14 has ribs 14a which engage under a head 13b formed on the body member 10. Portions 19a on hinges 18a, 18b induce bending of the hinges close to the member 10 to improve the engagement of the lid 14 and member 10. A tab 20 extending from the lid 14 enables the lid to be pulled open and, with the hinges 18, provides means for spacing the lid 14 from the wall 16. Ribs 14f may be provided on the lid 14. The position of the ribs 14a may be varied, Fig. 7 (not shown) and the hinges 18 may be of triangular or other shape Figs. 10, 11 and 14 (not shown). The inner surface of the member 10 may be frusto-conical, Fig. 13, the lid having a complementary tapered surface. The closure may be circular in plan view.
