Abstract

886,107. Charging and discharging condenser detonator devices. NITROGLYCERIN A.B. April 24, 1958 [Nov. 4, 1957], No. 12989/58. Addition to 792,039. Class 38 (4). An electric detonator device for explosive charges is designed to ensure that a sufficient electric charge is always passed to the explosive charges. A potential source, such as a handdriven generator 2 having a voltage-doubling rectifier unit 4, charges a metallized paper capacitor 1 via contacts on switches 7 and 9. A discharge resistor 8 is connected across the capacitor via contacts on the switches 7 and 9. In use the switch 9 is depressed so as to connect the potential source to the capacitor and the capacitor is then charged. Depression of the switch 9 also disconnects the resistor 8. Without releasing switch 9, the switch 7 is then depressed which connects the terminals 6 of the detonator circuit to the capacitor. The depression of the switch 7 also breaks the discharge circuit through the resistor 8 to ensure that the charge may not be accidentally lost and it also disconnects the charging circuit so that the terminals 6 may not be connected directly to the potential source.
