Abstract
923,522. Ammunition fuzes. RHEINMETALL G.m.b.H. June 10, 1960 [June 12, 1959], No. 20570/60. Class 9 (1). In an electric fuze for ammunition in which a condenser 5 for firing an electric detonator 7 is charged electrostatically by the escape of a powder as in Specification 751,579, one pole of the detonator is connected to the condenser and the other pole to a percussion member 8, the circuit being completed on impact by contact between the fuze nose 3 and the member 8 as in Specification 923,523, whereupon the condenser 5 can discharge through the detonator 7. Between the nose 3 of the fuze and the body 2 is high quality insulation 4 and a connection between the body 2 and the condenser 5 is interrupted by a spark gap. If the capacity of the condenser is, say, 5000 ÁÁ F, the gap capacity is 5 ÁÁ F. The spark gap may be replaced by a discharge tube or a rectifier may be used to prevent accidental firing of the detonator. Specification 923,521 also is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 751,579.
