Abstract
748,508. Pulse generating circuits. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. May 6, 1954 [June 18, 1953], No. 16897/53. Class 40 (6). In a pulse generating circuit of the type in which a storage circuit is charged from a D.C. source and discharge through a discharge-tube or spark-gap to generate a pulse the storage circuit is charged through a, triggered rectifying device of the mercury pool type the triggering being delayed until the discharge tube or spark gap has de-ionized thus preventing " firing- through ". The Fig. shows a pulse generator in which a delay line D.L. is charged from a D.C. source via an inductor L and a triggered ignitron 12 and is subsequently discharged through a load to generate a pulse. The subsequent triggering of ignitron 12 to re-charge line D.L. is delayed for a period to allow ignitron I1 to de-ionise thus preventing ignitron I1 restriking and short-circuiting the D.C. supply. The constants of the circuit are also chosen so that ignitron 12 in its turn will be do-ionized before ignitron I1 is again triggered.
