Abstract

1332123 Ignition devices PLESSEY CO Ltd 14 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969] 47533/69 Heading F1B [Also in Division F4 ] A hand-operated portable electric ignition device comprises means for producing from a low voltage D.C. source relatively high voltage alternating current pulses in response to the operation of a manually operable switch SW, the means including a transistor T oscillator circuit, rectifying means D for rectifying the pulses for charging a capacitor C and means GS arranged to conduct to provide for the discharge of the capacitor through the primary P 2 of a transformer in the output circuit of which are connected spark electrodes SP, when the charge voltage reaches a predetermined value, to effect spark over between the electrodes. The device may be of pistol-like form with the spark electrodes located at the end of a simulated barrel and the trigger operating the switch for connecting a battery in circuit.
