Abstract

885,421. Sprinklers. HALL & CO. Ltd., MATTHEW. May 20, 1960 [May 27, 1959], No. 18118/59. Class 47. A sprinkler comprises a discharge outlet 2 closed by a plug 17 which is releasably held by a temperature responsive capsule 22 via jettisoning levers 20 passing through slots 23 in plate 16, the stream of liquid in the sprinkler being divided into an inner direct stream and an outer swirling stream by the fixed member 10 which has a through bore 11 and outer helical grooves 12, so that the liquid is finally discharged as droplets. The plug 17 and the plate 16 may be integral instead of centred by spigot 19. The nut 13 can be turned to adjust the sealing of the plug 17 by a tool which passes through further holes (not shown) in plate 16. Specification 856,689 is referred to.
