Abstract

1411169 Sprinkler head FACTORY MUTUAL RESEARCH CORP 15 Nov 1973 [28 March 1973] 53118/73 Heading A5A A sprinkler head 10 comprising a hollow body member 12 having an inlet end 14 for connection to a source of fluid and an outlet orifice 22 for discharging a fluid spray is provided with first and second deflectors 32, 40 supported by body 12 and being relatively positioned such that the first and second spray patterns A and B together form a substantially continuous uniform pattern of droplets of the same size as when discharged from outlet 22, wherein deflector 32, preferably in the form of a flat disc has a cut-out opening 32a and strut 34 thereacross, and release device 36 responsive to a predetermined temperature, e.g. an alcohofilled glass phial, is held between strut 34 and plug 24 in outlet 22. The second deflector 40 is attached via rod 42 to strut 34 and is in the form of a flat disc of the same diameter as, and aligned with, opening 32a in 32. Plug 24 may be hinged or otherwise connected to body 12 to prevent it from interfering with the discharge from outlet 22.
