Abstract

1,262,795. Spray nozzle adapter. FMC CORP. 26 Nov., 1969 [2 Dec., 1968], No. 57812/69. Heading B2F. In a spray nozzle assembly an adapter comprises a housing which fits around the discharge end of the nozzle, an opening spaced from the nozzle orifice, a deflector positioned adjacent and spanning the opening whereby a proportion of the spray from the orifice is intercepted and drained from the housing whilst the remainder of the spray issues from a hole in the deflector. As shown the assembly comprises an adapter consisting of a housing 2, mounted to surround nozzle 1, an opening 11, spanned by deflector 14, preferably frustoconical in shape, which contains hole 18, and means 23 and 4, for draining the intercepted spray from the housing. The end of the deflector defining orifice 18, may be a knifeedged. The upper end of housing 2, is slidably mounted. The spray material drained from the housing is preferably returned to a supply tank.
