Class 123(2) A heat exchange installation for nuclear reactons comprising rows of vertical casing tubes f which contain steam generating elements, not shown, and are supplied at their upper ends with hot gases circulated naturally, or by force, by way of two laterally spaced main inlet pipes a, b which carry respectively blind sub-headers c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP> connected at their ends by unions d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> to headers e from which the tubes f are suspended is characterized in that, in order to reduce the dimensions of the installation, the superheater section for both the high and low pressure steam stages are disposed in the sub-headers c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP>. The economisers are preferably also disposed in sub-headers g<SP>1</SP>, g<SP>2</SP> which are fitted in a similar manner to two laterally spaced main gas-discharge pipes h, i at the lower end of the installation. Steam leaving the evaporator sections can be forced by pumps into the superheater sections to accelerate steam delivery. Specifications 822,417, 823,904 and 838,742 are referred to.
