Abstract

885,210. Bearings. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 25, 1958 [May 7, 1957], No. 14512/57. Class 12 (1). In a thrust bearing assembly for small motors, a resilient washer 5 and slit ring member 6, which is adapted to engage a groove in the shaft 1, are arranged between a slide washer 4 and an oil flinger 7, all the part of the assembly being interlocked for simultaneous rotation with the shaft 1. Another washer 4a, similar to the washer 4, is located between the washer 5 and oil flinger 7 and the washers 4, 4a have interengaging axial projections 8, 8a, Fig. 2 (not shown). The washer 4, which is preferably of moulded nylon, abuts a stationary thrust surface 3 on the end of a journal bearing 2. The oil flinger 7 has axially extending ribs 9, one of which extends into a gap formed between prong portions 10 formed on the member 6. Also segment shaped axial projections 12 on the oil flinger 7 engage the edges of radially projecting segments on the washer 4a. The washer 5 may be made of cork or felt and the oil flinger 7 preferably moulded of nylon.
