Abstract

885,185. Rotary actuators. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. Oct. 11, 1960 [Oct. 12, 1959], No. 34513/59. Class 110 (2). In a rotary fluid pressure actuator comprising a cylindrical casing and a rotor, wear on the bearings is reduced by forming the rotor 11, Fig. 1, by spaced-apart cylindrical portions 12, 12 connected together by a substantially sectorshaped vane portion 17, Fig. 2, co-operable with a sector-shaped radial partition 19 secured in the casing 10 by bolts 20. The partition 19 terminates at its inner edge in a part-cylindrical surface 22 of small radius provided by a rod 23 welded to the partition. Longitudinal packing strips 25, 26 in the vane portion and longitudinal packing strips 28, 28 and a radial packing strip 27 at each end of the partition isolate the two parts of the working chamber 16. The working chamber is sealed against leakage by packing rings 24 in the cylindrical portions. The rotor is mounted on ball or roller bearings 14, 14 and its reduced diameter ends are connected to a device or devices to be actuated.
