Abstract

769,789. Rotary pumps. MACDONALD, N. M. June 8, 1955, No. 16415/55. Class 110(2). A pump or compressor as described in Specification 731,559 having one or more rollers 15 and having one or more inner fluid conducting tubes 17 enclosed in an outer tube 18, the space between the inner tube or tubes and the outer tube being sealed and filled with a constant volume of hydraulic medium to help restore the inner tube or tubes to their original shape after the passage of a roller. In the embodiment in Fig. 1 a single inner tube 17 floats freely inside the outer tube 18 which has its ends sealed to the periphery of the inner tube 17 at 20. The rollers 15 are pivoted to arms 13 by arms 14 and are pressed against the tubes by the centrifugal effect during rotation. In a modification, Fig. 5, the tubes 17, 18 are bolted to the pump casing 5c.
