Abstract

The rotor (4) of a rotary hydraulic actuator is provided with two diametrically opposed vanes (3) and ends (7) of reduced diameter to suit the bearings. A single piece sealing element (11) fits in grooves in both the radial and longitudinal edges of the vanes (3). In addition, the rectangular sections of the seal are joined by ring section (6) which fit in circular grooves in the shoulders of the rotor (4). The use of a single piece sealing element (11) eliminates the possibility of the type of leak which occurs at the joint between separate sealing elements. This type of sealing elements can also be applied equally well to pneumatic rotary actuators.
