883,158. Aircraft arresting gear. BORGS FABRIKS A.B. April 4, 1960, No. 11799/60. Class 4. An arresting net for aeroplanes is carried in its raised position by masts 4, 5 disposed at the two ends of the net, and is arranged to be elevated and lowered in a plane parallel to the net in its raised position, the masts 4, 5 occupying, at all times, vertical positions. Vertical cables 1 are attached at their lower and upper ends to wires 3 and 2, the latter being connected to winch ropes 8, 9 which pass over pulleys 6, 7 to winch motors 14, 15, by joints 10, 11, which are such that, when an aeroplane has been caught in the net, the latter will be disconnected from cables 8, 9, and will be smoothly decelerated by brakes, not shown, connected to the net by wires 12, 13. Elevation and lowering of the net may alternatively be effected by endwise displacement of the masts out of and into spaces in the ground or by masts consisting of telescoping tubes.
