Abstract

882,712. Magnetic compositions. BAERMANN, M. March 17, 1958 [April 27, 1957], No. 8539/58. Class 38 (2). A flexible anisotropic permanent magnet comprises a mixture of a soft thermoplastic material and an anisotropic permanent magnetic material having a coercive force of at least 1200 Oe. and a permeability of less than 3.5, the magnetic material being in powdered form and comprising 40-80% by volume of the whole composition, and the magnetic particles being aligned in such a manner that a series of magnetic poles is present along a surface of the magnet. The thermoplastic material may be a superpolyamide or polyvinyl chloride. The magnetic material may be barium or strontium ferrite or MnBi. The magnet may be prepared by a moulding process wherein a number of magnetizing fields are provided to produce the poles, other process specified are kneading, extrusion, rolling and injection moulding.
