Abstract

882,708. Reciprocating pumps. LOEWY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Feb. 16, 1959 [Nov. 14, 1957], No. 35556/57. Class 102(1). [Also in Groups XXII and XXIX] A hydraulic extrusion press (see Group XXII) has a rotatable carrier 10 supplied with hydraulic fluid through pipes 66, 68, distribution and by-pass valve 64 and pipes 60, 62 from a variable swash-plate pump 30 fed from a reservoir 84 and driven by an electric motor 32. The inclination of the swash-plate 34 can be varied automatically by a rod 46 and lever 48 carrying a follower 52 engageable with an exchangeable cam 54 mounted on the carrier 10. The follower 52 can be held out of engagement with cam 54, to permit a small constant delivery of the pump, by a spring 44 working in a hydraulic pressure chamber 42. An auxiliary vane pump 80 driven by motor 32 supplies hydraulic fluid to solenoidactuated pilot valves 82a, 82b, which control the distribution valve 64.
