Class 39(3) In an electrically heated blanket the heating element is disposed in sinuous passageways between two thicknesses 8 of reinforcing fabric the inner surfaces of which are faced with flexible sheet plastic material 12, e.g. polyvinyl chloride or polytetrafluorethylene, so that the heating element can slide to a slight extent, with the minimum of friction between the layers. As shown the layers 8 of jute fabric are stitched together as at 9 to form a tortuous passage through which is threaded a heating element comprising a resistance wire helix 15 wound on a core 14 of multi-fibre plastic or glass wool and sheathed with a tube of insulating plastic 16. The outer coverings 10 are of synthetic fur fabric with the raised deep pile on the outside and are bound at their edges and stitched together in one or more places
