Abstract

1,014,468. Seaming non - metallic sheet material. A. NEGROMANTI. Oct. 9, 1964, No. 41244/64. Addition to 776,359. Heading B5K. Multi-tubular strips for the manufacture of electrically heatable pads or blankets are produced from materials which are non- weldable by the application of heat by passing two indefinite-length strips of the non-weldable material between rotating electrodes or internally heated pressing members with a thermoplastic sheet material sandwiched therebetween to form staggered welds as described in the parent Specification. One or both non-weldable strips may be of a woven or knitted fabric or a net or of a perforated or imperforate sheet material, foamed sheet or padding. The external surace of one or both non-weldable strips may be flocked with fire-proof textile fibres, e.g. glass or polyvinyl chloride, which may be of different lengths to obtain different rates of heat dissipation, i.e. different temperatures. The weldable thermoplastic sheet material may be a laminated sheet, either perforated or imperforate, or of a woven or knitted fabric or of foamed sheet material or a net or of padding.
