Abstract

984,541. Electric blankets. GORDON B. MOORE (ELECTRICAL) Ltd. Jan. 15, 1963 [March 20, 1962], No. 10734/62. Heading H5H. An electric blanket comprises two layers of foamed plastics material, a layer of textile material sandwiched between the two layers of foamed plastics material, and an electric heating element secured relative to the textile material so as to maintain the conductor wires of the element in spaced relative relation. As shown, the wires 3 are located in tunnels 5 formed integrally in a textile fabric 4 sandwiched between two layers of foamed plastics material 6 with outer covers 7 of textile material. A satin edging is applied around the borders and the whole assembly is stitched together around the borders. The plastics material may be polyurethane foam, or foamed polyvinyl chloride, polyethyl or polyester. As an alternative, the tunnels may be formed by stitching two layers of fabric together. As a second alternative the wires may be secured to one face of the layer of textile material by stitching or by an adhesive.
