Abstract
882,279. Sewing machines. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Aug. 16, 1960, No. 28337/60. Class 112 [Also in Group XXV] A throat plate 12 is releasably fastened to a seat 11 about an opening 7 in the bed plate 2 of a sewing machine by means comprising a pin 16 which projects from seat 11, and a plunger 17 which has a head 22 overlying seat 11 and biased theretowards by a spring 23, the throat plate having an aperture 19 for receiving the pin 16 and also having a slot 26 which extends inwardly from an edge thereof and terminates in a seat 27 for receiving the head 22 of the plunger, head 22 and seat 27 having opposed surfaces engaging at a point 28 disposed inwardly of the throat plate relatively to the plunger. The throat plate is removed by lifting one side off the pin 16 and sliding the other side from beneath the head 22 of the plunger. It is replaced by inserting it beneath the head 22 with the plunger passing into the slot 26, until head 22 snaps into the seat 27.
