Abstract

881,147. Ventilators. HALLAM, SLEIGH & CHESTON Ltd. Aug. 20, 1959 [Sept. 27, 1958] No. 30949/58. Class 137 [Also in Group XXV] A roof escape hatch device comprises an escape hatch panel 2 which also serves as a ventilator panel and is mounted in a roof 1 the panel being connected to plates 5 releasably carried by stationary plates 6 attached to the roof, the panel being adjustable relative to the plates 5, 5 between a lowered and raised position, and also being releasable from the stationary plates by lever means carried by the roof, thereby allowing the panel to be completely removed. The panel 2 may be raised by means of levers 4, 4 attached to brackets 7, 7<SP>1</SP> on the panel, the levers being pivotally mounted at 12 between bosses 5b on the releasable plates 5, and the housing 11, movement of the levers being controlled by a knob 13 which, when rotated, moves a nut 9, to which the ends of the levers are connected by a pin 8. The panel may be released from the roof 1 by means of levers 20, rotation of these levers from inside or outside of the panel causing the arms 20<SP>b</SP> of each lever to free the releasable plates 5, 5 so that they merely rest on the stationary attachment parts 6, 6 and the panel may be lifted bodily to provide an escape hatch.
