[Also in Group XIII] In a water injection system for a forced circulation boiler 9 a piston pump 1, which supplies feed-water to the boiler through a pipe 5, a non-return valve 6, and a cooler 7 also controls, through a pipe 19, a diaphragm pump 17 which obtains condensation water from a cooler 7 and delivers short duration pulses, proportional to the feed of the piston pump, to an injector 14 located in a steam output pipe 11. During each suction stroke of the pump 1 condensate, under the influence of the steam pressure in the pipe 11 through a shunt pipe 23, passes through a pipe 18 and a suction valve 22 into the diaphragm pump 17. The piston pump 1, at the same time, sucks in feedwater from a supply pipe 2 past a suction valve 3. The diaphragm pump 17 urges a pulse of condensate towards the injector 14 at the beginning of each compression stroke of the pump 1 the pressure of which is then about twice that of the steam in the pipe 11. The pump 1 may be of the multi-cylinder type. Adjustment of the steam throughput, ensured by a feed regulator 13, can be obtained by adjusting the speed of a permanently operated pump 1 the diaphragm pump 17 being connected to one or more of the pump cylinders. Alternatively, throughout adjustment can be obtained by the operation, or stoppage, of cylinder groups if desired in combination in combination with the adjustment of the rotary speed injection serving for steam regulation only when a predetermined group of cylinders are in operation. Injection can be terminated by closing a cock 16 in the pipe 15.
