Abstract
879,583. Valves. SEPARATOR A.B. Jan. 13, 1959 [Feb. 13, 1958], No. 1210/59. Class 135. Apparatus for keeping constant and for regulating independently the flow of fluid through a pipe line from an inlet 18 to an outlet 19, comprises a flow-responsive member 2 in the pipe line, an inlet control valve actuated by the flow-responsive member, and a sleeve 8 open at its ends and surrounding the flow-responsive member, the sleeve being manually displaceable relative to closure means between three positions in one of which positions a by-pass between the sleeve and the pipeline is open to allow some fluid to by-pass the flow-responsive member, in a second of which the by-pass is closed by the closure means and fluid can only flow through the sleeve and in another of which the by-pass and the sleeve are both closed by the closure means so that no fluid can flow. The inlet valve comprises an inlet member 4 provided with two plane parallel seating surfaces through which holes 17 open into the pipe line, these surfaces being embraced by the forked end of an arm 6 pivoted to the inlet member at 5 and constituting a valve closure member, the arm being articulated to a stem 7 of the body 2. The sleeve 8 is movable towards or away from a fixed obturator 12 by a rotatable lever 11 bearing an eccentric pin 10 which engages the sleeve. Ports 16 in the sleeve co-operating with a seating bore in a pipe end member 21 control the by-pass passage 9. The arm 6 carries a stop 20 to limit its movement.
