Abstract

878,289. Transistor amplifying circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. July 15, 1960 [July 22, 1959], No. 24682/60. Class 40(6) A direct-coupled transistor amplifier comprises a bridge circuit having three arms comprising resistors Rl, R2, R3 respectively and a fourth comprising two non-linear resistive devices Znl, n2 in series. The non-linear resistive devices are preferably Zener diodes. The input is applied at terminals 1, 2, to one diagonal of the bridge, and a first transistor Tr1 has its input connected across the other diagonal. The output current of the first transistor Trl flows through resistor R4. A second transistor Tr2 has its input connected across the diagonal of a bridge formed by Zener diodes Znl, Zn2, the emitter-collector path of transistor Tr1, and resistor R4. The amplified output is taken across a resistor R5 in the collector circuit of the second transistor Tr2. The arrangement may be used in a voltage regulating circuit with a series-connected transistor as the regulating element.
