In a machine for forming prints of margarine, &c., which includes a forming chamber 34 and means for forcing material along inlet passage 26 into the chamber to form the print and an ejector 40 for removing the print from chamber 34 in raised die block 32, means for bleeding air and removing excess material are provided comprising openings 42 in one wall 44 of the chamber, a cover 50 over part of one wall 14 of the machine housing, a discharge outlet 64 for said cover the interior of which communicates with said openings, and enclosed heating fluid passages 68, 72 in said cover to maintain it at the optimum temperature for the flow of material therethrough. Two die blocks 32 operate out of phase and excess margarine flows through holes 42, down grooves 62, on to ledge 54, and through outlet 64. Heating fins 80 help to maintain said material at the required temperature. Heated water is circulated through passages 28 to heat passage 26.
