Abstract
876,623. Making rotors. FIRTH CLEVELAND Ltd. July 2, 1957 [Dec. 7, 1956], No. 7663/61. Divided out of 876,611. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXVI] A disc of sheet metal is sheared to the shape shown in Fig. 3. Subsequently (or partly during the shearing) bends are made along the dotted lines 11<SP>1</SP> to bring the strips 5<SP>1</SP> at right angles to the plane of the inner part 10<SP>1</SP>, as shown in Fig. 4, to form a rotor portion having a back plate 101 and longitudinally extending blades 51. As shown in Fig. 4, a complete rotor can be formed by assembling two such rotor portions with their blades 5<SP>1</SP> interdigitated and with tabs 30 engaging holes 31, the tabs 30 being deformed to hold the rotor portions together. One of the rotor portions may be replaced by a disc provided with holes 31 to engage the tabs 30 of the remaining rotor portion. In a simplified embodiment, in which tabs 30 and holes 31 are omitted, a single portion constitutes a complete rotor. The rotor may be used in a transverse flow blower or pump such as described in Specification 876,611.
