Abstract
876,382. Valves. STARK, S. A. J. Jan. 5, 1959, No. 431/59. Class 135. The body 1 of a valve has a right-angledpassage 2 therethrough that terminates in threaded outlet and inlet sockets 3, 4 of different size; the socket 4 may be replaced by a spigot. The top of the body 1 is closed by a cap 10 which is internally threaded and engaged by the screwed part 11 of a spindle 12 that is formed with an actuating handle 23, the latter extends through the body 1 and supports a closure member 14 which co-operates with a seat 15. The member 14, which is cylindrical and made of natural or synthetic rubber, is disposed between a washer 16 and a cup 17 both splined to the spindle 12, whilst a seal 7 is located around the unthreaded part of the spindle 12. The member 14, which may be mounted on the downstream side of the seat 15, rotates with the spindle 12 and so wipes clean the seat 15. The cap 10 may be of hexagonal shape or ribbed and the nuts 20 securing the member 14 to the spindle 12 are locked by lugs 21 projecting from the washer 16 and cup 17.
