876,193. Pipe joints. SKANSKACEMENTGJUTERIET A. B. March 15, 1960 [March 16, 1959], No. 9127/60. Class 99(1). In a spigot-and-socket pipe joint comprising a gasket 6 of elastic material disposed between substantially cylindrical or oonical sealing surfaces 2, 4 of the pipes 1, 3 and rolled into position by relative axial movement of the pipes, the gasket is elastically stretched when assembled on to the pipe 3 and has a crosssection in the undeformed state which is other than circular and is substantially oval, the ratio of the minor and major axes of the cross-section being between 1 : 2 and 1 : 1.1, but preferably between 1 : 2 and 1.15.
