Abstract
876,056. Two-part couplings. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 9, 1959 [Jan. 10, 1958], No. 1042/58. Class 38 (1). A socket contact for use with a printed circuit panel comprises a U-shaped clip 1, the arms of which are bent at the ends to form outward flanges 3 and intermediately to form shoulders 4, said ends also having resilient contact arms 2 extending therefrom longitudinally of the clip to receive a pin contact between them. In use, the clip is pushed into an aperture in a panel so that the flanges 3 abut one face of the panel and the shoulders 4 engage the other face, permanent connection to the printed circuit then being effected by dip-soldering. Instead of providing the shoulders 4, tongues may be part sheared from the limbs of the clip (Fig. 5, not shown). Fig. 6 shows another construction wherein a U- shaped clip 10 is located horizontally in an aperture by shoulders 15 and lugs 14, the contact arms 16, 17 thus lying parallel to the plate so engage a pin of a similarly arranged component. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7, the clip, which is again arranged horizontally, is located in one direction by a lug 18 at the base thereof and tongues 19, 20 on the ends of the contact arms and in the other direction by lugs 14.
