Abstract
874,698. Photographic vesicular processes. KALVAR CORPORATION. Oct. 14, 1959 (Oct. 14, 1958], No. 34827/59. Class 98(2) Light-scattering elements are treated prior to exposure and development with a liquid bath at a temperature between 140‹F. and 212‹F. for a period of 10 to 300 seconds. Contrast is thereby reduced, speed increased and non- uniformity avoided. Five examples describe elements comprising p-diazodimethylaniline zinc chloride dispersed in a vinylidene chloride/ acrylonitrile copolymer with the variations of using I transparent ethyl cellulose or black paper as support with immersion in water at 190‹F. for 20 seconds, II immersion in half-normal saline solution, III and IV polyethylene terephthalate supports with immersion in water and saline solution respectively, and V immersion in aqueous hydroxyethyl-2-heptadecenyl glyoxalidine together with glacial acetic acid. Numerical results concerning the gamma reduction and increase of exposure range by the procedure of the Examples are quoted.
