Abstract
746,567. Processing colour photographic elements. AGFA AKT.-GES. FUR PHOTOFABRIKATION. May 12,1954 [May 13,1953], No. 13941/54. 'Class 98 (2). Polyethylene oxide or a derivative thereof is used in conjunction with a specified bleaching and fixing bath for removing silver images from colour developed elements. The polyethylene oxide or derivative may be added to the emulsion during preparation thereof or to the emulsion layer by means of a preliminary bath, but is preferably added to the bleaching and fixing bath. Three examples specify baths comprising (1) the tetrasodium salt of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, ferric, chloride, sodium carbonate, sulphate and thiosulphate, and the reaction product of ethylene oxide with dimethylamine; (2) the ammonium salt of the complex ferric ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, ammonium thiosulphate, sodium sulphite and the reaction product of lauric acid with ethylener oxide; (3) as (2) using the reaction product of trimethylol ,propane with ethylene oxide. Additionally to the examples the use of polyethylene oxide itself, reaction products of oleyl alcohol and of ammonia with ethylene oxide, and other derivatives indicated by structural formulµ is referred to; and further complex salts for the beaching-fixing bath are indicated with refer- - ence to further structural formulµ and to German Specification 866,605.
