Abstract
751,186. Colour photographic processing and compositions. KODAK, Ltd. July 19, 1954 [July 20, 1953], No. 21011/54. Class 98 (2). Blue stain in photographic records or paper prints which have been subjected to a ferricyanide silver-bleaching process is avoided by treatment before or during fixing with a soluble zinc, cadmium or manganese salt. Such salts precipitate ferrocyanide, formed by reduction of the ferricyanide, in an innocuous form and so prevent reaction of the ferrocyanide with traces of iron in processing solutions or washing water to form Prussian blue, which is believed to constitute the stain. The process may be used in conjunction with silver removal after reversal or negative-positive procedure, with colour formers in the developers or in the emulsions, as described in Specifications 507,841 and 541,589. The claims are directed to a dry packaged composition of zinc sulphate, sodium sulphite and hypo, and to compositions including similar materials together with an acid such as acetic acid, as well as to the feature of processing method concerning the zinc, cad. mium or manganese salt treatment.
