Abstract
874,696. Electric motors. BOSCH G.m.b.H., ROBERT. Oct. 2, 1959 [Oct. 23, 1958], No. 33416/59. Class 35. [Also in Group XXVII] An electric starter motor for internal combustion engines comprises, an axially displaceable driving pinion 20, a motor casing formed of a yoke 10 with two end bearing covers 16, 13 and a magnetic switch 15 mounted on the casing which serves to engage the pinion and also connects the motor to a power source 32, the bearing cover 16 being pressed or spun from sheet metal into the shape of a pot, a contact 31 of the magnetic switch being electrically connected to the motor by a lead 33 which passes through a resilient insulating element 23, inserted into a slot or recess of the motor casing, forming a tight joint between the lead and the insulating element which is accommodated in slots formed in the bearing cover and the adjacent end of the yoke. As shown in Fig. 4, the insulating element has a groove 26 whose width is approximately the thickness of the metal bearing cover 16 and a slot 25 which closes and grips the lead 33 through the hole 24 when the bearing cover 16 is tightened up on the motor casing.
