Abstract

874,636. Davits. MAREPA TRUST Ltd. Dec. 3, 1959 [Dec. 10, 1958], No. 39760/58. Class 115. A gravity davit has an arm 16 pivotally supported on links 13, 15 and has sufficient lateral stability so as not to require side guides. The links 15 are widely spaced apart and are pivotally connected to the pillar 11, at 14, and to the arm 16, at 18. The link 13 is pivotally connected to the pillar 10, at 12, and to the arm 16, at 17, by means of a lost motion connection 13a. Flexible stops 22 are provided to arrest and limit the outboard movement of the arm 16. The arm 16 is locked in the inboard position and the locking means for a pair of davits may operate simultaneously. The supports 10, 11, 13, 15 may be strengthened by tie-wires 23a provided on opposite sides of the arm 16, joined to the pillar 10, at 24, and to the pillar 11 by tensioning means at 25. The strops 22 may be replaced by a telescopic member. Specification 688,495 is referred to.
