Abstract

976,751. Gravity davits. G. W. HAYCOCK. Dec. 16, 1960 [Sept. 17, 1959], No. 31663/59. Heading B7S. A roller track gravity davit comprises a roller carriage 15 having a davit arm 2 pivotally connected thereto, latching means 29 for preventing the pivot arm from pivoting on the carriage which is releasable to allow the arm to pivot further outboard, and stop means 24, 25 to limit the further outboard pivoting. The further outboard movement is initiated by rotation of handles 39 to place stops in the path of push-rod 34 on the carriage to effect disengagement of the latch 29 from the cross-bar 30 just as the carriage completes its downward run. A further embodiment describes a davit for use with a flush deck having a triangular-shaped carriage running on two tracks disposed one above the other. Shock-absorbing means may be associated with the stop means 24, 25.
