Class 68(1) The plough body consists of two parts 11, 12 of which the upper part 12 is connected to the lower part 11 by a pivot pin 21 about which the upper part 12 can have a limited rotation and which is horizontal and at right angles to a coal face when the lower part is pivotally mounted for limited movement about a pivot pin 13 extending obliquely upwards towards the face from a plough carriage 10 that is drawn along the face. In use all the leading cutters of the plough body 11, 12 move at the start of the advance of the plough simultaneously towards the face and the floor as the body 11, 12 pivots around the pin. 13. To the leading cutters of the upper part 12 is simultaneously imparted an upward movement as the part 12 rotates about the pin 21, this upward movement being in excess of the downward movement.
