In a rowlock comprising a peg 1 adapted to turn in a socket at the side of a rowing boat and having a U-shaped head 2 in which is pivoted, by means of a bolt 3, a lug 4 attached to the underside of a channel member 5, said channel member allows an oar to be rested and secured therein, e.g. by means of screws through holes 6, so that the oar can be swung in a vertical plane about the pivot point of the channel member, and can swing in a horizontal plane about the axis of the peg but cannot slide on the channel member and cannot leave the boat without the peg being lifted out of its socket.
