Abstract

The rowlock consists of a pin (1) which can be fitted vertically into the boat's transom and is able to rotate about its vertical axis. The pin is connected to a sleeve (3) which is of the correct size to accommodate the oar. The sleeve is connected to the pin by means of a hinge (2) which allows movement about a horizontal axis so that the oar is capable of free universal movement in both planes.
