Abstract

The mooring post has a base (3) resting on the sea bed. The post (5) is hinged and is fitted with a universal joint (12) at the top end. The joint is connected to a beam (9) which is pivoted on a bracket (11) carrying a pin (10). The bracket is mounted on the vessel. The end of the beam carries a counterweight (13). The beam may be fitted with a damping mechanism consisting of a piston (16) joined to the beam by the piston rod (15). The piston moves in the cylinder (17) which is opened to the sea and filled with water.
