Abstract

874,461. Supply systems depending on variable-speed generators. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 30, 1959 [May 12, 1958], No. 14756/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). A generating system for a motor vehicle comprises a direct-current generator having an armature carrying two windings and two commutators, switching means being incorporated so that the windings may be connected in series or parallel as required. The switching means are responsive to a condition of the vehicle engine which drives the generator such as engine speed inlet manifold pressure, throttle position, engine oil pressure, or the load current. The system is provided with normal voltage and current regulators and a cut-out relay.
