Abstract
874,314. Combine harvesters. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. April 24, 1959 [April 28, 1958], No. 20859/60. Divided out of 874,313. Class 6(3). In the combine-harvester described in Specification 874,313 the grain-cleaning means comprises a rotatable drum 41 having internal helical tracks 43 to feed the grain towards a discharge end, the tracks having dams 44 at intervals along them to cause the grain to be carried around and to fall back across the central area of the drum through which an air-current is forced by a fan 45 in the opposite direction to the feed of the grain. The grain is fed into the drum by a chain-elevator 72 with pusher-plates 73 and an auger 75 working in a tube 76 with an orifice 77 at one end. A shaft 97 passes axially through the drum and carries the fan 45 and inclined plates 96 which are aligned with the dams 44 and deflect the falling grain towards the discharge end of the drum. The cleaned grain is delivered by a shoot 78 to an auger 79.
