874,313. Combine harvesters. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. April 24, 1959 [April 28, 1958], No. 14058/59. Class 6(3). In a combine-harvester, having a wheeled frame 93 carrying a forwardly-extending pivoted header 27 on which are located a cutter-bar 11, reel 14 and transverse auger 20, the usual conveyer following the auger 20 is omitted and the gathered grain is fed directly to a threshing cylinder 26 and thence to separating members 29, 41, all these devices being mounted on the header in series. The reel, cutter and auger and threshing cylinder are all conventional and the threshed grain falls into a transverse auger 34. The first separating member comprises a second threshing cylinder 29 rotating, oppositely to the main cylinder 26 the separated grain falling through the concave 30 on to a travelling endless riddle 94 and thence into a second transverse auger 35, and the straw passing into a space A between the augers and thence to the ground. Cavings are discharged, in the direction of the arrow 95, by the riddle 94. The separated grain is passed by elevators 38, 39, into a dressing apparatus 41 described in Specification 874,314 and thence to a hopper 47 which can be emptied by an articulated worm-conveyer 50 into a vehicle alongside. An engine 54 is mounted at the rear and drives the various moving parts as well as the front ground-wheels 55, 56 the rear wheels being steerable from an elevated driver's seat 60.
