Abstract

A forage-harvester which delivers cut crop into windrows comprises a flail-assembly 13 which cuts the crop and conveys it to a driven horizontal auger 20 running in a trough 17 from the outer end of which the crop is dropped gently to the ground. The forage-harvester may have the conventional delivery-shoot 14 which can be blanked-off by a plate 16 so that the crop is delivered to a hood 25 overlying the auger 20, which is supported in bearings at one end only. The trough 17 is of stressed-skin construction to reduce flexure, since it is also unsupported at its open end. In a modification, the delivery shoot is replaced by a hemi-toroidal shoot extending between the flail-cylinder and auger. The forage-harvester is mounted on links so as to be alongside the tractor rear-wheels and to deliver the windrow behind the nearside wheel so that on subsequent traverses the tractor wheels never run over the discharged crop.
