981,110. Potato-diggers. F. A. UNDERHAUGS FABRIK. Sept. 12, 1963 [Sept. 12, 1962], No. 35952/63. Heading A1F. A potato-harvester comprises a digging share 7, a belt 9 for conveying potatoes from the share to a sorting belt 14, and a trough 15 arranged alongside the sorting belt with the return loop 23 of the belt running along it, whereby potatoes transferred from the belt to the trough are guided along it to an outlet at one end. A spinner 8 sweeps the crop off the share on to the belt 9 and a further rotor 12 is mounted slightly ahead of the share on the side adjacent to the belt to prevent accumulation of trash at that point. An oblique guide 13 impels the potatoes from the belt 9 on to the sorting belt 14 adjacent to which is a platform 16 on which operators stand to feed potatoes into the trough 15. The trough 15 ends short of the belt-run 23 so that the potatoes are discharged into the lowest of a line of baskets 19 on a roller-conveyer 18, each basket, when filled, being released on to the ground by depression of a pedal-operated stop 20. The harvester is mounted on tractor hitch-links 2, 3 and on trailing wheels 6 and can be completely raised by the hitch-linkage. A jointed shaft 4 drives the moving parts from the tractor power take-off.
