Abstract

873,847. Buckles. CERUTI, A. Nov. 26, 1957 [Nov. 28, 1956], No. 36908/57. Class 43 [Also in Group XXV]. A buckle for a belt of substantially inextensible material comprises two buckle elements adapted to be hooked together in known manner, one buckle element comprises a hollow body 1 of rectangular cross-section to one end of which the belt 12 is secured and in the cavity of which is a spring 2, the spring producing tension between the hollow body and a pin 3 which passes transversely through the hollow body and which forms part of a frame secured to the other buckle element, the hollow body moving freely in the frame in the longitudinal direction of the belt. The belt passes round the hollow body and is secured to the belt by adjustable retaining means 14. The frame comprises webs 5 and 6 joined to side pieces 7 and 8 with openings 9 and 10 and pins 3 and 4. Pins 3 and 11 extend transversely through the hollow body. The pin 11 slides in the side openings of the frame. The ends of the spring abut the pins 3 and 11. A hook 13 engages the pins 4 of the buckle elements to connect the ends of the belt together. Alternatively the sides of the hollow body slide in indented guide channels formed in the side pieces of the frame. The spring abuts the pin 3 and one end of the hollow body which may have projections to hold the belt in position.
